Holy (Gas) Balls! Now that’s a storm!

May 2, 2013

Here’s a recently-acquired image (courtesy of the Cassini spacecraft) of a massive hurricane (i.e. LARGER THAN EARTH) swirling in Saturn’s north pole.  And by swirling, I mean 300 freakin’ miles per hour.  Jupiter H Christ!saturn_storm
Too bad Saturn’s storms aren’t really red (and its rings blue)… that’s all just some coloration that’s done to help us see what’s going on.  Apparently this and the other pictures that Cassini took of the storm are in the “near infrared”, whatever the hell that means.  I think it means that our eyes just suck.  That whole glare from the sun, though; that part’s real. B-)
